A case represents a specific injury or diagnosis being treated by a therapist. Each therapist involved in a patient’s care will have their own case with an individualized plan of care.
Example 1: Multiple Disciplines
If a patient is receiving treatment for a shoulder injury from both a Physical Therapist (PT) and an Occupational Therapist (OT), each therapist will have their own case, tailored to their respective plan of care.
Example 2: Insurance vs Self-pay
A case can also help distinguish between different payment methods. For instance, if a patient is receiving physical therapy for a shoulder injury (covered by insurance) and dry needling (paid out-of-pocket), separate cases would be created:
One case for physical therapy, billed to insurance.
One case for dry needling, marked as self-pay.
An active case is required to schedule a patient.
