Learn how to create internal appointments to block provider time for meetings, breaks, or other non-patient activities.

What Are Internal Appointments?

Internal appointments are used to block time on a provider’s calendar, making them unavailable for patient scheduling during that period.

You can create internal appointments with varying duration on an ad hoc basis, or set up multiple internal appointment types for recurring needs.


Examples of Internal Appointment Types:

  • 30-Minute Staff Meeting

  • 1-Hour Lunch Break

  • 8-Hour Vacation Day


How to Create Internal Appointments

1. Click Gear Icon

2. Click "Appointment Types"

3. Click "+ Appointment Type"

4. Create Name for this internal appointment

5. Select Duration in minutes

6. Click "Is Internal"

7. Click "Is Active"

8. Click "Save"

How to Change Internal Appointment Ad Hoc

1. Click the "This is an internal appointment" box

2. Select Provider

3. Select Appointment Type

4. Enter Custom / Ad Hoc end time

5. Click "Save"
