Recurring appointments make it easy to schedule patients who come in on a repeating pattern such as daily, weekly, or monthly, without having to create each visit manually.
1. Create a new appointment and find the Repeat option
When creating a new appointment, you’ll see a Repeat dropdown inside the appointment form, below the date and time fields.
2. Open the Repeat menu
Click on the Repeat option then select Repeat on. This will open the Recurring Appointment modal, where you can enter a custom setting for how this appointment series should behave.
3. Choose how often the appointment repeats
Inside the modal, you’ll choose the frequency rules for this series. You can choose to repeat the appointment every Day, Week or Month.
3.1 Weekly Recurring Appointments
If you choose Week, you can select one or multiple weekdays.
Example: Every Monday.
⚠️ Important note about weekly defaults: When creating a weekly recurring series, the default weekday selected is always the same weekday of the appointment you are creating.
For example:
You start creating an appointment on Monday
You open the Repeat modal and choose Week
Monday is selected by default
If you unselect the default day (Monday, for example) and select Tuesday, the system will:
Create a recurring series on Tuesday
Keep one single appointment on Monday, that does not belong to the new series you just defined
This behavior is expected and ensures the original appointment you started with remains on the calendar unless you change it manually.
3.2 Daily Recurring Appointments
If you selected Day, there are no weekday choices. You just need to set an end date.
3.3 Monthly Recurring Appointments
If you selected Month, you can choose the specific day of the month. Based on the week you are creating the appointment.
Example: “The 8th day of every month.” or "The 2nd Monday."
4. Set an End Date
You can finish the series in one of three ways:
Never: The series continues indefinitely
On: Choose a specific date using the calendar
After: End after a specific number of appointments (ex: after 4 visits)
5. Save the Recurring Series
Click Save to apply the recurring settings, then Save again on the appointment form.
Your calendar will automatically generate all future appointments based on the rules you selected.
